WIOA Grant  (Most Common Funding Source)

The Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) is available through the American Job Center locations throughout Connecticut. Generally speaking, you may be eligible for a WIOA training grant if you are currently or recently unemployed, or if you or anyone in your family or household is eligible for any kind of State assistance such as State Medical (Husky Medical), food stamps and/or disability benefits. Visit your local American Job Center to start the process. WIOA grants will cover most or all of your tuition depending the course you choose and the region you live in.

Military Grants/GI Bill

Allstate Commercial Driver Training School is a VA-approved institution and Veterans regularly use their Post 9/11 GI Bill and Vocational Rehabilitation benefits to pay for their training. Thank you for your service.

Grants for Connecticut Homeowners

If you are behind on your mortgage payments you could be eligible for a quick approval training grant that would cover the full cost of tuition.

CareerConneCT offers skilling, reskilling, and upskilling in growing industries. Depending upon your needs and interests, you can participate in certificate training programs and earn industry-recognized credentials in as little as 5 to 12 weeks and get connected to employers ready to hire you right away!

To get started, you will need to complete 3 simple steps:

  1. Create an account on the CareerConneCT portal and complete the intake form.
  2. Complete a brief skills inventory work with your assigned CareerConneCT coach to enroll in a training program that is right for you.

Governor Lamont and the Connecticut General Assembly created CareerConneCT to help the thousands of Connecticut residents whose jobs and lives were affected by the COVID-19 pandemic to get back to work in Connecticut’s fastest-growing industries, in better jobs than those they had before the pandemic. CareerConneCT helps eligible people access and participate in short-term (typically 5 to 20-week) training programs that allows you to earn industry-recognized credentials and find entry-level employment in a high-quality career pathway. If you are eligible, CareerConneCT participants may also receive a skills inventory, case management, and job placement support, as well as supportive services such as transportation, childcare, housing, food, technology, benefits counseling, stipends, and/or other services needed to attend job training and care for your family during training.
